On 25th February, 2022, a collaborative of health industry experts will host our annual Practice Coach Virtual Summit

We invite practice staff and practice teams from each PHN to join us.

This is a full day virtual summit on the art and science of building thriving practices.

It is targeted at all those who aim to improve systems for delivering care - PHN QI and practice support teams, practice managers, practice nurses, clinicians, and administration staff.

Presentations include the latest developments in

Supporting general practice quality improvement is a tricky job - requiring a broad set of knowledge and skills.  Sessions will have opportunities for Q&A and sharing of ideas and experiences.

All sessions will be rich with practical skills which enable you to apply your learning.

The day will conclude with an expert panel discussion.

Practice coaches need to have expertise in primary health care, be well versed in the science of quality improvement, possess acumen in the business of general practice, and have leadership and coaching skills at the highest level.

Registration includes 12 months membership of practice coach college, with access to webinars, articles, and the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with other college members.

Chris Smeed

How practices can use data to boost patient care, increase billing and measure performance.

Chris Smeed is the co-founder and CEO of Brisbane-based software startup Cubiko, an innovative platform dedicated to helping general practices gain insights into their business.

For the last seven years, Chris has seen first hand the opportunities that can be realised through harnessing the power of practice data, having worked previously as Director of Finance and Business Development at Inala Primary Care. Chris is a surveyor for AGPAL and a Director for a number of companies across both the not-for-profit and commercial start-up space and is renowned for his enthusiasm, high energy, commitment, and proactive approach to making practice life healthier.

Darlene is a licensed family nurse practitioner, mental health clinical nurse specialist, an International Coach Federation certified professional health and wellness coach, and a certified professional in chronic care. She trains professionals across a variety of evidence-based health and wellbeing areas including coaching skills, change, transformation, brain health and organizing the mind, positive psychology strategies, interpersonal communications and relationships, leadership and engagement, healthy lifestyles and chronic disease management.

Anna Davidson

Creating a safe workplace - emerging from the pandemic with the best possible health, social and economic outcomes..

Anna is an experienced Director in the community and healthcare industries, with a background in Law, Public Sector Management, Government Funded Services, Non Government Organisations and General Practice Management. She has a particular interest in Collaborative Solution Finding. Anna is a graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is a member of OzSAGE, a multi-disciplinary network of Australian experts who provide well-researched and robustly debated independent advice to inform the common national goal of achieving an exit strategy from this pandemic with the best possible health, social and economic outcomes.

Simon is a Psychologist and Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

He is Board Certified in Health Coaching and Lifestyle Medicine. He’s the CEO of Wellcoaches® Australia and Wellcoaches® Singapore School of Health Coaching. Wellcoaches® trains health professionals to support their clients to achieve long lasting health behaviour change. He is an Adjunct Lecturer at Avondale University Lifestyle Medicine & Health Research Centre and is on teaching faculty with Wellcoaches USA. Simon is also Director of Coaching for First in Wellness LLC, whose mission is to improve the health, well-being and resilience of first responders. He’s the Chief Psychologist – Director of Program and Learning Development for Likevekt Helse, which equips Norwegian companies to support the health and wellbeing of their employees. In addition, Simon is a Director of the US not-for profit Global Positive Health Institute, which seeks to support healthcare and other organisations by bringing together the disciplines of Lifestyle Medicine and Positive Psychology. He is also a Director of the Australian not-for-profit Practice Excellence Institute which seeks to support health care organisations to provide high quality healthcare to their communities. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Romanian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

Simon consults nationally and internationally in the areas of health coaching, behaviour change, positive psychology and lifestyle medicine. He presents at national and international conferences on health coaching and the psychology of behavioural change. He has published and writes regularly about these topics also and is a popular podcast guest. When not working, Simon also loves talking about his other passions as a pilot, barista, gardener and self-taught cook.

 

Charlotte Hespe

Dr Charlotte Hespe is a principal GP at the Glebe Family Medical Practice.
 
She is a long term champion of quality improvement in general practice, and her practice has been leading the way in adapting to the COVID pandemic. 
 
As Chair of the NSW/ACT RACGP Faculty., Charlotte has been a frequent guest and commentator on national media.  She was the founding Director of the Central Sydney Division of General Practice (CSGPN) and Sydney Institute of General Practice Education and Training (GPSynergy).  Charlotte is Head of GP research and conjoint Head of General Practice at University of Notre Dame, Australia, School of Medicine Sydney.

Megan Lewis

The art and science of managing difficult conversations

Megan has been providing professional conflict resolution services on the mid north coast of NSW since 2011 and established The Resolution Network in 2013.

Prior to embarking on a formal career in mediation, Megan spent 18 years working as a communicator across a range of industries and held managerial positions in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors with responsibilities across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Megan is passionate about helping people find solutions and make well-informed choices for their future when they find themselves in conflict. She is a sought-after presenter and trainer, having presented to over 1,000 people across the mid north coast of NSW.

Megan is a nationally-accredited mediation expertand an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Sydney University), a Post-graduate Certificate in Asian Sustainable Development (Murdoch University), a Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (Bond University) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Megan is also a Professional member of Resolution Institute – the largest professional Dispute Resolution body in Australia.

Chris Pearce

AI in GP. When will my computer help me make better decision

Associate Professor Chris Pearce is a GP, Anaesthetist, ED Physician, and Health Informatitian.

Chris was a member of the Federal Government’s first e-health committee known as the Information Management Strategy Group. He went on to become a member of the General Practice Computing Group leading several of it programs. .

A practicing clinician, he still works in general practice, anaesthetics and emergency medicine, having worked for many years in rural practice. His interest in Health Informatics developed when working as a rural GP, we observed the difficulties in GPs integrating computers into their workflow in the 1990’s.

A/Prof Pearce has extensively researched computers in healthcare, with a focus on the interactions and useability. He was awarded a PhD in 2007 with what was then the largest video based study of computer use in primary care consultations. He is an invited speaker both here and overseas, and the author of over 50 academic articles. He was the clinical design lead for the PCEHR. As co-sponsor of the MAGNET database, his role as director of research with Melbourne East GP network is to work with Monash university on data quality and use of Australia’s largest repository of general practice data.

What is a virtual summit?

Good question. A virtual summit is just like a conference, but delivered entirely online.

So at least you won't have to queue for lunch, and you get to choose the coffee.

How will the talks be presented?

Our speakers will be presenting via webinar. You will be able to see and hear them live, and view their slides. A text chat will be active during each talk, and there will be an opportunity to ask each speaker questions.

How long do I have access to the content for?

All talks will be recorded and available to registered participants for 12 months after each talk.

Will I get a certificate?

Certificates will be available to attendees
